Child who was flower girl in bone marrow donor's wedding, meets second donor

A little girl, who was the recipient of a bone marrow transplant, was honored as the flower girl at her first donor's wedding, has met the second person to help save her life

Sky Savren-McCormick had a very important job to do at the wedding last year-- toss flowers down the aisle for Hayden Ryals.

"I always tell people they're smitten for one another," Skye's mother, Talia Savren-McCormick, told "Good Morning America." "I feel like Hayden is such a huge success in why Skye was able to beat leukemia."

Skye was diagnosed with juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia in March 2016, just before her first birthday, according to the Mark Broadway Photography blog.

After the first transplant from Ryals in 2016, Skye's family found out the treatment didn't work, so she needed a second transplant. In 2017, Sky went through another treatment, with bone marrow donated by a stranger.

That procedure had Sky in a hospital for more than 200 days and she's still having side effects from the treatment.

After the one-year waiting period set by Be the Match expired, Sky got to meet Ricky Currier recently, and Ryals was there, too, sharing laughs as she reunited with Sky.

They were all there for the Be The Match LA Soiree, and were expecting to meet with Currier. Hayden's being there was a surprise.

Currier said he joined the registry because a family friend was battling cancer. When he found out he was a match, he said he didn't hesitate at all when he thought about being a donor.
