Deputies say strip club dancer's intention was to kill

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A dancer from Wacko’s Gentlemen’s Club in Jacksonville, Florida, could face decades behind bars for attempting to kill three people according to deputies with the Clay County Sheriff’s Department.

Clay County deputies say Ava Mooring was in a fistfight with a woman outside Academy Sports in Orange Park. It escalated quickly, and she allegedly pulled out her gun and fired eight bullets at three different people.

The police report said no one was hurt but there were several bullet marks in the vehicle and one narrowly missed the passenger.

A sergeant with the homicide unit said that the women were fighting over a man.

“She was mad that the girl was kind of getting the underhand of her friend,” Sgt. Mike Calhoun said. “She acted very violently.”

Deputies said that her intentions were deadly.

“To kill them, her intention was to kill them,” Calhoun said.

When investigators went to arrest Mooring, they located her car at Wacko’s, where she works.

“Once we identified it was her car, we were trying to get people there to get her.” Calhoun said. “At which time the raid happened.”

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was already raiding the club for an unrelated incident.

Once Mooring was done being questioned by JSO, she was taken into custody by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Mooring is currently in jail with a bail set at $750,000. She is charged with three counts of attempted murder. Deputies said she could face anywhere from 10 years to life in prison.
