Georgia firefighters walk 110 flights of stairs in honor of 9/11 first responders

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Two firefighters donned their full gear Tuesday and walked 110 floors on fitness machines at a Georgia Planet Fitness in honor of the men and women who died responding to the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attack on the World Trade Center.

The pair was spotted Tuesday morning at the gym in Warner Robbins, according to Chelsea Farmer, who shared footage of the firefighters’ tribute in a Facebook post that has since gone viral.

“They started at 8:46 a.m.,” she wrote. “Seventeen years ago, American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center at 8:46 a.m.

“Two firefighters at my gym walking all 110 stories of the World Trade Center and back down in remembrance of 9/11 and to honor all the fallen heroes,” she wrote.

Farmer identified the pair to WMAZ as Houston County firefighters Timothy Soler and Alex Liczewsky. The fire department confirmed in a Facebook post that some of its volunteers and recruits took part in the tribute.

“On this day 17 years ago, many brave men and women climbed up to the 110 floor of the World Trade Centers to rescue anyone they could from a terrible fate,” fire officials said. “Many of these men and women never returned from that building.”

Farmer told WMAZ the firefighters finished their trip in less than an hour.

"It was a very special moment I will never forget and I'm so glad I got to witness it,” she told the news station. “It makes me proud to be an American."
