Man crashes car into Iowa pizza restaurant, walks away unharmed with 2 citations, report says

A local news report claims a man who crashed into a pizza restaurant walked out with a pizza, but police only say a mechanical error may have contributed to the crash.

DES MOINES, Iowa — A man crashed into a pizza restaurant and walked out with a pie of his own, according to a local news report.

KCCI reported that police in Des Moines, Iowa, said a crash happened at a Papa Murphy's restaurant Friday afternoon around 1 p.m. No one was inside the restaurant when the car crashed into the pizza shop.

"Right now, we are looking at mechanical failure," Des Moines Police Department Sgt. Paul Parizek told WHO. "There is no impairment. He didn't report any medical problems. There may have been something wrong with the car. He simply didn't have control."

According to KCCI, the driver -- who police said is from Arkansas and did not have a license -- walked out with a pizza in his hand.

Police said the driver received some citations and was OK after the crash.
