Family members heard a loud crashing sound downstairs and discovered a man in their laundry room.

According to the criminal complaint, the man "was only dressed in a black T-shirt and black boxers.

A victim told police he yelled at the man and asked him why he was in the house, then “hit him with a broom” before wrestling the intruder to the ground, police said.

Another family member, who was asleep on a nearby couch, woke up, grabbed a frying pan and hit the intruder, police said.

That blow apparently knocked the intruder out, because the criminal complaint says that when police arrived, they "noticed he was not conscious and called for medics."

Police said the man, identified as Jermaine Sample, was intoxicated. He is now facing several charges, including burglary, and is in custody in the Allegheny County Jail.
