Soldier back from deployment found tied up fatally shot in his Tennessee home

Authorities are searching for leads after a member of the Tennessee National Guard was found tied up and fatally shot at his home Oct. 1.

Jacob Dean Bishop, 35, returned from a deployment in Poland after serving with the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment of the Tennessee Army National Guard, according to his obituary. On Oct. 1, his mother found Bishop dead inside his duplex in Loudon County, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported.

According to the Loudon County Sheriff's Office, the woman found Bishop tied up and fatally shot in the living room of his home, WBIR reported.

Deputies are seeking a white SUV that was seen in the neighborhood the morning Bishop was killed, WVLT reported.

"We continue to work tirelessly and around the clock to bring the party, or parties, responsible for the murder of a U.S. Soldier to justice, and to provide the Bishop family with some form of closure," Loudon County Sheriff Tim Guider said in a statement. "Jacob Bishop was a father of two, and one of our Nation's guardians."

In a Facebook post, Bishop's fiancée, Brittany Kindred, wrote "God has one amazing angel by him now.
And I have a precious guardian angel."
