Woman arrested after boyfriend tells police they fought over two pennies

WICHITA FALLS, Texas — A Texas woman is in jail after police say she got into an argument that turned into a physical altercation with her boyfriend -- over two pennies that were stuck together, according to police.

KAUZ reported that according to an arrest report filed with the Wichita Falls Police Department, Caitlyn Dowdy, 19, was arguing with her boyfriend about the pennies Monday night. According to the police report, officers went to a Wichita Falls, Texas, home Tuesday morning.

The victim told police he and Dowdy were trying to separate the pennies. According to the victim, KAUZ reported, Dowdy wanted him to wash his hands properly after handling the pennies. He said they went to sleep and when they woke up the next day, they argued about the coins again.

KAUZ reported that the victim said in the police report that Dowdy started slapping and scratching him before eventually leaving the apartment complex.

Police found Dowdy at a relative's apartment nearby where she was arrested and charged with assault and family violence. She remained at Wichita County Jail on $2,000 bond as of Wednesday.
