MARCO ISLAND, Fla. — A 17-year-old from Georgia was vacationing with family on Marco Island in Florida when he was struck by lightning Saturday afternoon.
WSBTV reported Walker Bethune, a rising high school senior, was on the beach at the time of the strike.
His father had to perform CPR until medical personnel arrived, WZVN reported
He was then flown to a hospital in Miami where he was listed in “critically stable” condition, according to WZVN.
The Macon community came together Sunday at his school, Stratford Academy, to hold a prayer vigil and to show his family support, WSBTV reported.

The Bethune family told Logan Bowlds, the head of the school, that Walker’s heart and kidneys had received the most damage during the lightning strike, WSBTV reported.
