NEW YORK — A 1-year-old boy has died after gunfire erupted during a cookout in New York's Brooklyn borough late Sunday, authorities said.

According to WNBC and WPIX, the incident occurred about 11:30 p.m. as several family members gathered on a Madison Street sidewalk near Raymond Bush Park. Two men approached the family and started shooting, striking the child and three men, ages 27, 35 and 36, police said.
The baby, who was struck in the stomach, died at a nearby hospital, the news outlets reported. The men's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, authorities said.
Authorities are searching for the gunmen and have not arrested anyone in connection with the incident, according to the news outlets.
