Grocery chain Aldi is giving its employees a 10% raise, company officials said Wednesday.
The raise would be backdated for hours worked since March 9, Retail Gazette reported.
The grocer also is encouraging social distancing in its stores.
It has installed plastic screening at checkouts, developed special hours for vulnerable customers and is ensuring people keep at least 6 feet away from each other.
Rival grocer Lidl announced Thursday it is hiring 1,000 employees and will offer free coronavirus insurance benefits, Business Insider reported.
