Coronavirus: Mark Milley, Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman, tests positive for COVID-19

WASHINGTON — Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is isolating after he tested positive for COVID-19, multiple news outlets are reporting.

According to Reuters and CNN, Milley, 63, tested positive for the disease on Sunday, spokesman Col. Dave Butler announced Monday morning.

“[Milley] is experiencing very minor symptoms and can perform all of his duties from the remote location,” Butler said in a statement. “He has received the COVID-19 vaccines including the booster.”

The statement continued: “All other Joint Chiefs of Staff except for one tested negative for COVID-19 yesterday.”

Milley last had contact with President Joe Biden on Wednesday, Butler said.

“[Milley] tested negative several days prior to and every day following contact with the president until yesterday,” the statement read.
