Officials with McCracken County Public Schools said they received a complaint on Thursday about the teacher, whose name has not been released, WPSD-TV reported. School officials also declined to disclose where and when the field trip occurred for the McCracken High School students, citing privacy measures for the students and staff members, according to the television station.

McCracken County Sheriff Matt Carter and McCracken County Commonwealth’s Attorney Dan Boaz each told WPSD that the alleged incident happened outside of Kentucky. Carter added that no incident report was filed in the county.

The accused teacher has been temporarily suspended with pay pending the results of the investigation, KFVS-TV reported.

“McCracken County Schools takes allegations regarding unethical or potentially illegal conduct of employees seriously and will take appropriate action based on all the facts that can be confirmed,” school officials said in a statement. “Our attorney has advised us that we have reported to local authorities and it is up to them if they would like to pursue this locally or refer it to authorities in the location where this allegedly occurred.”
