Country music legend Willie Nelson went on the road again, this time to receive a COVID-19 shot.
“Getting your COVID vaccine is Willie cool!,” Family Hospital Systems, a locally owned system of emergency rooms and hospitals in Texas, wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
Thank you, Willie Nelson, for helping Family Hospital Systems slow the spread of COVID-19,” the hospital posted. “We want to encourage everyone to continue to get routine tests and signup for a vaccine. Family Hospital Systems drive through tests and vaccines are convenient and easy.”
Nelson concurred.
“Get your shot! Take care of yourself and others,” Nelson said in a shared Facebook post.
“We’re lucky,” Nelson’s wife, Annie D’Angelo, told Rolling Stone. “We made sure that (he) wasn’t cutting anybody -- in fact, the healthcare workers were kind of angry that we had waited so long because he is 87 years old and has COPD.”
Nelson has battled health issues in recent years and was forced to cancel his tour in 2019 because of breathing problems. He also has raised money for those affected by COVID-19 by live streaming benefit concerts.
