Pennsylvania State Police told WFMZ that the bus driver lost control of the Premiere #1 Limousine bus, causing the vehicle to leave the road, cross over an exit ramp and strike a guardrail. The bus then hit an embankment and traveled 50 yards into a wooded area, the TV station reported.

Although five of the crash victims were initially listed in critical condition, only three retained the designation by Monday night, WHP-TV reported.

State police said it appears the bus was the only vehicle involved in the crash, WFMZ reported.

According to WHP-TV, the bus was carrying students and volunteer church leaders, traveling home to the Lives Changed by Christ Church in Manheim, Pennsylvania, from a ministry retreat in New York.

Five people were airlifted to area hospitals following the crash, and the 37-year-old driver, Adam Wright, is listed in serious condition, the TV station reported.
