Man sought in California double homicide found dead in Mexico

A search for a man police believe fatally shot his son’s mother and grandmother ended Monday when he was found dead in Mexico, authorities said.

Justice Love Peace, 31, was found dead in a white SUV rental early Monday, Isaias Bertin Sandoval, Baja California’s secretary of public safety and citizen protection, said in a statement.

San Diego police investigators have not confirmed Love’s death, according to KSWB.

Peace was also known as Jeremiah Alfred Horton, KNSD reported.

In a bulletin, Mexican state police said Peace crossed into Mexico at about 9:50 a.m. Sunday, approximately 90 minutes after the double shooting was reported, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

The Union-Tribune reported that Peace rented a 2020 Porsche Cayenne on Saturday night from a rental company at San Diego International Airport, the newspaper reported. According to rental company, Peace paid $350 per night for two days to rent the SUV.

Originally, police believed Peace had taken his 6-month-old son with him, KWSB reported. The child was later found unharmed at Peace’s apartment in another section of San Diego, the television station reported.

San Diego police Capt. Manny del Toro said Peace “had been at odds with the child’s mother over custody of the boy,” KWSB reported.

The boy’s 37-year-old mother was found lying in her home’s driveway in Otay Mesa, The Union-Tribune reported. Her 65-year-old mother was found dead near the front door. Both women had been shot, the newspaper reported
