Cameron Stewart, 33, was charged Friday with second-degree murder in the death of Charles Hacker, 86, of Pahoa, Hawaii News Now reported.

Officers were called to a home in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision on Wednesday after receiving a report of a man in a wheelchair bleeding from the neck, the news organization reported.

Upon arrival, officers found Hacker sitting unconscious in the seat of his walker in his driveway, bleeding heavily from a laceration to his neck, the Hawaii Police Department said in a news release on Friday.

Hacker was taken to an area hospital, where he later was pronounced dead, the release stated. An autopsy was performed Friday morning and the forensic pathologist ruled Hacker’s death a homicide.

Stewart and his family moved to Hawaii from Arizona in mid-June, police said.

During their investigation, detectives served a search warrant on Stewart’s home and recovered a recurve bow, various arrows and several other archery-related items, Hawaii News Now reported.

Stewart is scheduled to make his initial appearance at Hilo District Court on Tuesday, the Star-Advertiser reported. His bail was set at $1 million.
