Physician’s comments wrinkle timeline of president’s diagnosis

WASHINGTON — Comments made by President Donald Trump’s physician, Dr. Sean Conley, Saturday have raised questions about the timeline of the president’s coronavirus diagnosis.

Conley said the president is “72 hours into his diagnosis” during an update on Trump’s treatment Saturday at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The briefing was about 35 hours after the White House announced the president’s infection, The New York Times reported.

Trump was hospitalized Friday, less than 24 hours after announcing he was infected with the virus.

“The president this morning is not on oxygen, not having difficulty breathing or walking around the White House medical unit upstairs,” Conley said Saturday. “He is in exceptionally good spirits, and as we were completing multidisciplinary rounds this morning, he said, ‘I feel like I could walk out of here today,’ and that was an encouraging comment from the president.”

The president’s recovery from the coronavirus has included the experimental treatment Regeneron, antiviral medication Remdesivir as well as taking other over-the-counter medications.
