HIGHLAND HILLS, Ohio — A teenage suspect facing a host of violent charges eluded authorities Saturday by hailing a rideshare service outside a state-run detention facility.
The charges pending against Lavelle Spencer, 17, include aggravated robbery, assault, various weapons violations, kidnapping, gross sexual imposition and rape, and he remained at large on Thursday, WKYC reported.
Among other offenses, Spencer is accused of being part of a group that committed six carjackings in Cleveland, Ohio, WJW reported.
Spencer reportedly smoked cigarettes with hospital employees outside the facility while waiting on his lift, the TV station reported.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the escape because it occurred at a state-run facility, and the U.S. Marshals Service is assisting. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Spencer’s arrest, WKYC reported.
Spencer is described as a Black male, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing around 150 pounds.
Anyone with information regarding Spencer’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at (866)-4-WANTED.
