Tom Hanks says ‘shame on you’ to people who refuse to wear masks

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — “Wear a mask, social distance, wash our hands,” that’s what Tom Hanks told People magazine at a press conference for his upcoming movie “Greyhound.” But the iconic actor had even more to say about those who refuse to wear a mask.

Tom Hanks recently appeared at a press event for the upcoming movie “Greyhound.” Hanks stars in the film and also wrote the screenplay. “Greyhound” takes place during World War II on the Atlantic and highlights the fatigue brought on by constant vigilance while at sea. He drew parallels from the struggles in the movie and dealing with the ongoing pandemic, such as refusing to wear a mask, when he spoke to People.

“Those things are so simple, so easy, if anybody cannot find it in themselves to practice those three very basic things – I just think shame on you. Don’t be a p----, get on with it, do your part. It’s very basic. If you’re driving a car, you don’t go too fast, you use your turn signal and you avoid hitting pedestrians. My Lord, it’s common sense,” Hanks told People.

Tom Hanks and his actress-singer wife Rita Wilson tested positive for the coronavirus in March while in Australia. The couple continues to self-isolate in Los Angeles.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends wearing cloth facial coverings in areas where social distancing guidelines may be difficult to maintain, especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.
