The death toll has climbed to more than 36,000 people, CNN reported.

As the hope to find any more people alive in the rubble starts to dim, there have been dozens of people pulled from the piles of twisted concrete and metal alive.

Swiss volunteer Asar Taratas said that if people who are trapped have food and water, they could survive for two weeks, NBC News reported.

At least 41 people have been found alive, between the 141st and 163rd hours — between 5 and 1/2 and almost 7 days — since the quake hit, CNN reported.

One woman had been trapped for 175 hours, or more than 7 days, after the earthquake shook the Hatay province. The woman, identified as Naide Umay, was seen on a video released by the Istanbul Municipality being carried on a stretcher by staff from the Instanbul fire department and Turkish miners who are digging through the wreckage, CNN reported.

A man had been pulled from the debris in Antakya about 8 hours earlier. A 55-year-old woman, an 85-year-old woman, a 25-year-old man and children were rescued in different operations, CNN reported.

A search dog indicated that there were survivors in a collapsed building and crews were in contact with what they believe are three survivors — a mother, daughter and baby, NPR reported.

Despite crews still pulling people alive from collapsed buildings, the United Nations said the mission will change and that the rescue phase is “coming to a close,” Reuters reported.
