The Topsham Police Department announced that Kimberly Pushard and Angela Bussell were found Sunday near Nicatous Lake in East Hancock. The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife was credited with finding the pair.

The two women had been lost for days since trying to drive to the Maine Mall, WGME reported. Police said the two drove around the border of Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire last Tuesday.

The women’s families had told police that the pair were intellectually disabled, easily disoriented, have trouble processing information and are confused by directions, WSCH reported. The women also take daily medications which they did not have with them.

In a news release, the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife said that Maine Game Wardens and Forest Rangers searched an area where video footage had shown the women’s red 2012 Jeep Compass.

Using aircraft, trucks and snowmobiles, searchers eventually found the women trapped in their vehicle along an unplowed road. The SUV got stuck and ran out of gas, and the women stayed in the car with no heat and outside temperatures dipping to approximately -15 degrees.

Both women were taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation.
