The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office shared a video on Facebook from a cruiser’s dashboard camera, which shows the high-speed chase playing out. In the accompanying news release, investigators said that a deputy noticed two vehicles coming up behind him at 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic.

The deputy said when the cars passed him, they were clocked at 100 mph and accelerating. Deputies said one of the cars continued driving north at speeds over 150 mph, passing cars on the shoulder, while the other exited the highway.

The deputy continued chasing the vehicle on the highway, which eventually gave up just before the deputy prepared to do a PIT maneuver, WSB reported.

In the news release, deputies said: “The driver made the statement that he was already driving 140 mph and there was no reason to stop after going that fast.”

The suspect was identified as Tejas Desai, WSB reported. He was charged with reckless driving and felony fleeing.

Deputies said in the news release that the same vehicle was seen the night before driving 178 mph in the opposite direction of the deputy.

Investigators have not identified the second driver, WSB reported.
