• Troopers: 3 motorcycle accidents in Caldwell Co. Sunday, one fatal

CALDWELL COUNTY - The North Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed a fatal motorcycle accident occurred Sunday afternoon on Highway 268 in Caldwell County.

Authorities say Jeremy Scott Brown, 24, of Hudson, North Carolina, died in that accident.

The call came in at 1:33 p.m. Speed was a factor in the accident; no alcohol was involved.

Authorities said there were two additional accidents Sunday afternoon in that same stretch of Highway 268 involving motorcycles. They believe the motorcycles were all traveling together in a group, but were separated throughout the duration of their rides.

The area of Highway 268 that the accidents occurred on is curvy and authorities say motorists speed in that stretch, which can cause dangerous accidents.

Victims in the other two accidents sustained serious injuries.

The highway was closed for two hours while police investigated Brown’s death.
