Heavy rainfall causes waterways to rise

Nearly 3 inches of rain fell in two hours and caused flooding across Charlotte.

Mecklenburg County was under a flash flood warning Friday until 9:30 p.m. and Stanly County is still under a warning until 11:15 p.m.

The weather caused officials with the Charlotte Knights to cancel the night game.

One fan said the sky turned dark over BB&T Stadium before the storm started.

Traffic delays happened all over the city because of water on the roads.

Waterways, including McMullen and McAlpine creeks, rose as the rain came down across the area.
