Richardson thanks fans, team for memorable season in full-page ad

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson is thanking fans in a hand-written full-page ad in the Charlotte Observer Friday.

"Thank you Panthers fans, players, coaches, and organization for a memorable year," Richardson wrote.

Richardson went on to say that the team fell short of its ultimate goal of winning the Super Bowl but "not for a lack of effort."

"A 12-win season, NFC South championship, and a playoff berth have laid the foundation," his note said.

The thank-you note was hand-written in cursive on Panthers letterhead.

Panthers center Ryan Kalil took out a full-page ad before the 2012 season predicting a Super Bowl championship.
