'Big 22' player LaChaston Smith out with fractured fibula

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — South Iredell linebacker LaChaston Smith is out for at least a month with a fractured fibula.

Smith fractured his left fibula in the first game of the season against Lake Norman.

Smith is expected to be out for four to six weeks, the first three weeks in a hard cast and then in a soft cast for the remainder.

Smith is already committed to Virginia. He is one of WSOC-TV Channel 9's "Big 22" Players to Watch for 2012.
