Game of the Week: Mallard Creek at Butler

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The voters have spoken and with nearly 30,000 votes, the Channel 9 Game of the Week for Week 1 is Mallard Creek at Butler this Friday night at Memorial Stadium.

Butler will look to overcome last year's season opening loss to Mallard Creek, 28-20.

This game features four of the WSOC-TV "Big 22" Players to watch in 2011.

For the Bulldogs, quarterback Riley Ferguson, linebacker Peter Kalambayi and wide receiver Uriah LeMay were voted to 2012 "Big 22" team.

For the Mustangs, wide receiver Marquez North made the "Big 22" Players to Watch team.

Both teams lost to eventual 4AA state champion Greensboro Page in 2011. Butler lost 40-26 in the sectional round and Mallard Creek lost in the regional round 41-27.
