HSFE WEEK 8: Vance stops Mooresville, 47-21, in Game of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Vance High coasted to a 47-21 win over Mooresville Friday night in the WSOC-TV High School Football Extra Game of the Week.

The Cougars (6-1) took charge from the start, jumping out to a 20-0 lead by halftime, and kept a 47-14 edge heading to the fourth quarter.

Mooresville (5-2), which had won just four games last season, already has five victories through seven games.

Vance shutout Hopewell, 43-0, last week. The Cougars' lone defeat was against reigning NCHSAA 4AA West Champion Mallard Creek.

Mooresville lost to Hough, 12-7, last week and now has a two-game losing streak.

Mooresville is led by offensive lineman Damarcus Mills, a Big 22 Player to Watch.

The Blue Devils’ offense is scoring more than 29 points per game, while their defense is giving up 17.5 points.

Vance is averaging more than 33 points per game while giving up just 10.2 points per game.
