Those with a sweet tooth or who are preparing for a special occasion will want to know Charlotte's best place to buy cakes. These eight bakeries in different corners of Charlotte have their own specialties, from cakes to French pastries, but all are rated highly delicious. 

Nothing Bundt Cakes

This franchise bakery, specializing in bundt cakes of different sizes and flavors, got its start in Las Vegas. Since then, it has expanded across the country, with its first location opening in North Carolina in 2014 at Huntersville's Birkdale Village. Customers can purchase either mini bundt cakes or special-order larger bundt cakes, including tiered ones for all occasions.

Nova's Bakery

Specializing in freshly baked breads and pastries multiple times per day, Nova's Bakery is most known for their savory breads versus sweet, dessert-like items. Their breakfast sandwiches and assortment of coffee drinks are local favorites.

Ameile's French Bakery and Cafe

A local Charlotte franchise, Amelie's French Bakery and Cafe epitomizes the coziness of a French bakery and brings it to life. Muffins, croissants, coconut macaroons and meringue cookies are a few of the sweet treats sold here, along with a full breakfast and a small lunch menu. Custom cakes also are sold at the bakery and are available upon request by phone.

Suarez Bakery

Located at Charlotte's Park Road Shopping Center, Suarez Bakery has been baking up their dessert-focused offerings in the area since 1992. A variety of breads, brownies, cupcakes and bars are served up much to any sweet tooth's delight. On Saturdays, stop in for the special treat that is Cuban bread baked, which is sold while supplies last.

Sunflour Baking Company

If you're craving a delicious breakfast you won't have to bake or make, try Sunflour Baking Company in Charlotte. From hazelnut orange rolls to cheddar biscuits with a coffee or tea to boot, the baked items from Sunflour or sure to hit the spot. For those with sweeter hankerings, Sunflour also sells a variety of cupcakes as well as round and sheet cakes.

New York Pastries & Pasteleria

Owner Martin Rojas brings the spirit of the Greek bakery he used to own in Brooklyn to Charlotte at New York Pastries and Pasteleria. Items that can be found lining the shelves are spiced walnut cookies, powdered sugar cookies and of course, the Greek favorite sweet treat, baklava.

Renaissance Patisserie

Another French-style bakery and pastry shop in Charlotte, Renaissance Patisserie specializes in the sweet mastery of all things French. Choose from custom order sheet cakes to a chocolate croissant, macarons or a flaky apple tart with an espresso.
