NCDOT will close one lane of outbound Brookshire Freeway between the Davidson St. exit and I-77 from 7 a.m. through 6 p.m. on Saturday. Crews will be installing a new warning system that will alert drivers to backups at the Brookshire Freeway/I-77 interchange.
- From Uptown, use John Belk Freeway or Trade St. as alternate routes to I-77.
- From Independence Blvd., well, it's complicated. The ramp from Independence Blvd. onto John Belk Freeway will be closed all weekend for a separate project. Traffic from Independence Blvd. will have to use Brookshire Freeway to access I-77, but allow extra time to navigate around both construction projects.
