Temperatures have dropped quickly overnight, quickly dropping below freezing. Roads in these areas may have been wet as the temperatures dropped due to yesterday's rainfall. So icy patches may have developed wherever the roads remain wet following the onset of freezing temperatures. This is particularly likely on bridges and other elevated surfaces. Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution if venturing out this morning. Ice is difficult to identify on roadways at night. Also, scattered light snow showers continue to develop near the Tennessee border. Less than an inch of snow is expected through midday, when snow showers will taper off. These accumulations could be enough to cause slippery roads even in areas where the roads are not initially wet. This should give drivers still more reason to drive with extra caution. $$
