South central Cleveland County in the Piedmont of North Carolina... * Until 1215 AM EDT. * At 1022 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to three inches of rain have fallen since 900 PM. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Patterson Springs and Shelby. In addition to ponding of water and flooding of poor drainage locations in urban areas around Shelby and Patterson Springs, high flows and rapidly rising stream levels can be expected along streams such as Hickory Creek, Buffalo Creek, their tributaries, and other tributaries of the First Broad River. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in urban areas, streets and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Rapid rises on small creeks and streams will also occur, possibly flooding low water crossings and farmland. Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Turn around, dont drown.
