Central Caldwell County in western North Carolina... North central Burke County in western North Carolina... * Until 745 PM EDT. * At 440 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding in the advisory area. The most affected streams are tributaries of the upper Catawba River, including the Johns River, Mulberry Creek, and Lower Creek. Up to two inches of rain have fallen in these areas since 4 PM. Minor street flooding is also likely in the Lenoir and Cedar Rock areas. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Lenoir, Gamewell, Hudson, Cajah's Mountain, Cedar Rock, Collettsville, Patterson and Kings Creek. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Heavy rainfall will cause rapid rises on small creeks and streams, possibly flooding low water crossings and farmland. Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Turn around, dont drown.
