South central Cabarrus County in the Piedmont of North Carolina... * Until 900 AM EDT Friday. * At 930 PM EDT, the headwater tributaries into Rocky River, including Mallard Creek, Coddle Creek, Clark Creek, Back Creek, and Reedy Creek have crested and are now receding. However, high flows continue to move downstream into the Rocky River and the river continues to rise. Minor Flooding will continue along the Rocky River below Harrisburg to Georgeville to Midland through tonight. Therefore the Flood Warning will remain in effect. * Minor Flooding is flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to streams. These areas include greenways, parks, farmland, boat access ramps, low-water crossings, and a few secondary roads. Please avoid streams, adjacent areas, and barricaded roads until the high flows have fully receded and the barricades have been removed. * The following streamgauge remains above Minor Flood Stage: Rocky River above Irish Buffalo Creek 5 W Georgeville. Current Stage: 17.92 feet and rising gradually. Forecast: The Rocky River will continue to rise through the evening tonight and may reach 19.5 feet before cresting and receding overnight tonight. The Rocky River should fall below Minor Flood Stage late tonight and fall below Action Stage later Friday. Action Stage: 12.0 feet. Minor Flood Stage: 16.5 feet. Impacts: Low-lying areas along the river will remain in flood for the next several hours. Floodwaters will approach NC 200 and Mt. Pleasant Rd. and isolated roadway flooding may occur. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Midland, Harrisburg, and Mt Pleasant. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to cross water-covered roadways, bridges, or low-level crossings. Only a few inches of rapidly flowing water can carry away your vehicle. It is not worth the risk. Please TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN. Please pay close attention to road signs indicating a flood-prone area. Obey all barricades, even if water is not currently over the road. After an event road crews need to assess the road to ensure road stability and safety. Barricades are in place for your protection. && LAT...LON 3521 8048 3519 8051 3520 8052 3521 8055 3529 8054 3530 8064 3534 8065 3536 8063 3534 8054 3533 8041 $$
