A band of fast moving snow will continue to move northeast across the Interstate 77 corridor and into the New River Valley before reaching the Blue ridge in the next hour. Snowfall rates of an inch or more in an hour will cause visibilities to quickly lower to below one quarter of a mile at times. Snowfall amounts of around an inch within a 30 minute to one hour period may make for slippery conditions as road surfaces become covered. Motorists should be alert for rapidly changing conditions and be prepared for slick roads, especially bridges and overpasses into this afternoon. $$
