Schools still on delays three days after storms rolled through

UPDATE: These Cleveland County schools are on a two-hour delay Thursday:

• Burns High School
• Burns Middle School
• Casar Elementary School
• Fallston Union Elementary School
• Cleveland Early College
• North Shelby School
• Turning Point Academy

Alexander County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Thursday.

Strong storms prompting tornado warnings arrived in the Charlotte area Monday afternoon and widespread damage and flooding were reported in several counties.

The fast-moving system started to clear out of the area early Monday night, but not before leaving a trail of damage behind it.

The storm blew through Burke County leaving two hangars at the Hickory Airport mangled with planes flipped over.

Some area schools will be on a two-hour delay or will be closed Tuesday as a result of Monday's storm damage.
