• FORECAST: Heat continues to build with little to no chance for rain

    Updated:

SUNDAY: The heat will continue to build in Charlotte this week.

Temperatures were in the mid-80s on Sunday and will reach to near 90 degrees midway through the week.

Humidity will return to play, but there will be little to no rain to cool things off.

Temperatures will be 86 degrees on Monday.

It will continue to stay dry for at least the next five days, but there will be a slight chance for rain on Friday.

TRACKING THE TROPICS: Channel 9 meteorologists are watching three areas right now in the Atlantic.

Jose continues to slide north between the southeast and Bermuda.

This will approach New England by Tuesday or Wednesday. However, the latest forecast path pushes it further out to sea.

Lee is not a threat to the U.S. right now, and really won't be a strong storm.

Maria is expected to become a major hurricane by Wednesday. It will move through the Caribbean this week, bringing damaging wind, rain and storm surge to places that don't need another storm moving through.

Where it goes later in the week is too early to tell.

Channel 9's team of meteorologists are keeping a close watch on the severe weather forming in the tropics. Check back with wsoctv.com for updates.
