Wine ‘n’ Dine on the Rails for Valentine’s Day

SPENCER, N.C. — If an elegant dinner combined with the romance of the railroad sounds like the perfect Valentine’s Day experience to you, we know just where to go. For the fifth year, the North Carolina Transportation Museum is hosting Wine ‘n’ Dine on the Rails Feb. 14-15.

Wine ‘n’ Dine on the Rails features a cocktail hour inside the museum, a leisurely train ride around the museum’s 60-acre Spencer Shops, and a four-course meal served by a top-rated chef aboard the train.

“It’s wonderful to be able to offer an experience that combines a train ride with some of our area’s wonderful cuisine, craft brews, and fine wine,” said the museum’s executive director, Kelly Alexander, in a news release.

Morgan Ridge Railwalk Brewery and Eatery will provide dinner and craft brews while the wines of Shelton Vineyards will be featured.

Appetizers will consist of potato cheddar croquettes and mini crab cakes, followed by a Caribbean salad with mango, greens, and red onion with a honey lime vinaigrette dressing.

Guests will have a choice of seafood, chicken or vegetarian options for their entrée, and pineapple rum cake will be served for dessert.

Two seatings will be available each night. For the first seating, cocktail hour begins at 4 p.m. with the dinner train departing at 5 p.m. The second seating offers cocktail hour at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m. Train rides last approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.

Tickets cost $85 per person, which includes the cocktail hour, train ride, dinner and four beer or wine tickets. An additional glass of wine is $5 and an additional glass of Morgan Ridge craft beer will be offered for $4.
