CHARLOTTE — A deadly motorcycle crash shut down an east Charlotte road Monday morning, police said.
It happened around 11 a.m. on Eastway Drive between The Plaza and Commercial Avenue.
On Tuesday, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department identified the motorcycle driver as Jorge Jafeth Pena, 23.
Police said Pena was going north on Eastway Drive when he hit a Honda Accord as it was turning onto Eastway Drive.
CMPD said investigators believe Pena was speeding, and that was a factor in the crash.
The driver in the Honda wasn’t injured, police said.
