IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — One person was killed Wednesday afternoon in a head-on crash in Iredell County, dispatchers said.

Authorities had to close part of Highway 152 near Brumly Road as they investigated the crash. It was reopened around 4:15 p.m.

Robert Denney, 79 from Mooresville, was driving a 2014 Cadillac ATS. He was pronounced dead.

Dispatchers said James Baral, 24 from Concord, was pinned into his 2013 Honda Civic and was taken to the hospital. Baral suffered some injuries.

Troopers said Denney was driving east toward Rowan County on a two-lane highway.  He attempted to pass another vehicle into an oncoming car.
