911 call released from home where 4-day-old boy was put in refrigerator

CHESTER, S.C. — Officials released the 911 call from a Chester home where a mother was later accused of putting her 4-day-old son in the refrigerator.

Authorities charged Angela Blackwell earlier this week with homicide by child abuse.

Deputies said that in February, she put her newborn son, William, in the refrigerator for three hours.

On Thursday, officials released the 911 call a friend made to police.

"Newborn baby?” the dispatcher asks. “Newborn baby a few days old? OK. It's not breathing at all?"

"No, ain’t breathing at all," said the caller.

"OK, all right, so do you know how to do CPR?" the dispatcher asks.

"No,” replied the caller. “His daddy's doing CPR now. He's trying to."

The Blackwell family told Channel 9 that Angela is innocent, and claim an autistic child in the home put the baby in the refrigerator.

Sheriff's deputies won't discuss details of their investigation.
