CMPD investigating after bullets fired into 2 more Charlotte homes

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — For the second and third time in 24 hours, police are investigating after someone fired bullets into more Charlotte homes overnight.

Officers said around 1:30 a.m. someone fired 20 shots on Columbus Circle, near Freedom Drive, and at least three bullets hit a home.

No arrests have been made and police said nobody was hurt in the shooting.

Police were also investigating after they said someone fired shots that hit a car and a house on Sunset Boulevard overnight.

Reporter Tina Terry is asking police about the spike in these types of shootings and will have more on this story on Eyewitness News at 5 p.m.

Officers said there were two adults and two children in the house but they were not hurt when the shots rang out around 2 a.m.

More than ten shots were fired at the home and a car in the driveway, according to investigators..

The shootings come a day after someone fired more than 60 shots at a south Charlotte home.

Channel 9 reported from the scene of that crime on Arrowood Road at Fawnbrook Lane all day Thursday.

Police said a woman was home at the time of the shooting and drove herself to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police told Channel 9 that they are concerned about the spike of shootings into homes and vehicles, and said such crimes are up 50 percent so far this year.

Officers said some of the shootings are the result of rival groups looking to settle a score with each other.
