CMPD: Man charged in connection with shooting of 3 people

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after a shooting Sunday morning, according to a news release from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Vincent Bourne, 20, was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury for the shooting of Prince Maylea, 19, Ashion Singleton, 18, and a third victim.

Officers responded to the call at 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Old Plank Road and Almore Drive. Officers found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound at the scene. The victim was transported to a hospital. Two more victims were also taken to the hospital. All had non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, the victims stated they went to a party to pick up one victim's girlfriend when they became involved in an argument with people they knew.

Homicide Unit detectives, with the assistance of the Vice and Gang Unit, identified Bourne as the shooter and detectives obtained warrants.

Bourne was arrested on Wednesday by CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Unit and taken to police headquarters. After questioning by homicide detectives, he was transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office, where he remains in custody.
