Reward offered after NC girl abducted from bus stop, sexually assaulted

MEBANE, N.C. — Investigators are offering a $5,000 reward for information in the kidnapping and sexual assault of a North Carolina girl.

Authorities are searching for a man who the 11-year-old girl says abducted her from a bus stop and sexually assaulted her in a church parking lot.

The Alamance County Sheriff's Office said the girl flagged down a vehicle for help Tuesday morning, about 45 minutes after she was seized by a man while waiting for her school bus.

The girl says a man between the ages of 35 and 45 had driven away with her, sexually assaulted her and then released her.

Police said she managed to escape when the man was distracted after hearing police sirens.

Authorities want to prevent the man from hurting anyone else, and have been checking neighborhoods and woods nearby.

“Checking subdividsions, trailer parks, beaten paths, just go down and make sure it hasn't been abandoned,” said Cpl. Sara Keller with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office. “We've been everywhere that you can possibly think of.”

(Alamance Co. authorities are looking for this car in connection with the abduction.)

The girl's 8-year-old brother said he saw the whole thing, and he told officers the suspect was driving a gray 4-door car, possibly a Buick sedan.

The car might have a sticker on the back that includes a skull.
