CHARLOTTE, N.C. — North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper will be in Charlotte Friday afternoon, pushing for money to pay for class size changes.

The visit comes as districts across the Tarheel State scramble to meet the state mandate for smaller class sizes.
On Thursday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district officials said the district would have to spend $23 million to hire 353 more teachers, and spend $20 million on classroom trailers.
