One arrested after brawl during ACC Championship game

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — During the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Game Saturday night, a nasty brawl broke out in the stands.

Corey Washington caught part of it on camera, and that video posted to Facebook has gone viral.

Washington said he was watching the game when he noticed a few guys start to shove each other. He said that before he knew it, they were fighting.

That’s when he pulled his cellphone out of his pocket and began recording.

"Nobody should be able to get you to a point where you're like physically slamming somebody or acting out of control in a public scene where there’s family around,” Washington said.

Washington posted the video at 8:40 Saturday night, and told Channel 9 the fight happened early in the first quarter of the game.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested Reed Fletcher and charged him with assault for his involvement in the fight.

In a statement, police said guest relations with the stadium was notified about a “disturbance” and officers responded to that section of the stadium. Officers determined Fletcher was the primary aggressor in the fight and arrested him.

More than 74,000 thousand people were in the stadium, which was the second largest crowd in ACC football championship game history.

The viral video is reminiscent of another fight that took place at Bank of America Stadium when the Carolina Panthers played the Philadelphia Eagles.
