CONCORD, N.C. — One man died in a Saturday afternoon crash on Interstate 85 in Concord.
Cabarrus County paramedics said the fatal crash happened just after 1:15 p.m.
Troopers arrived at the scene just after 1:30 p.m. and said the driver of a truck rear-ended an SUV after it swerved in front of him, which then caused a 2008 Volvo to rear-end the truck.
Inside the Volvo were 21-year-old twin brothers, officials said, and the passenger, Alec DeJong, died.
Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the northbound portion of I-85 was closed near mile marker 58 because of the incident.
Officials with the Concord Police Department confirmed around 5 p.m. that the road had reopened.
Troopers said no drivers have been charged, and that they don’t believe alcohol was involved.
