Truck driver pulls woman from burning SUV after crash on I-485

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A truck driver is being called a hero after pulling a woman from her burning SUV after a crash on Interstate 485 early Thursday morning.

The collision happened just after 2 a.m. when police said an 18-wheeler was merging when an SUV collided with it.

That SUV then caught fire and the truck driver actually pulled the woman from her burning vehicle.

Officials told Channel 9 that the woman was injured but is expected to survive.

Authorities said charges are pending against her, but it's unclear what those charges will be.

Two of the three inner loop lanes of I-485 were closed because of the wreck.
