Watch out for scammers posing as Netflix

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Watch out for emails that look like they're from Netflix.

The Federal Trade Commission said scammers are posing as Netflix representatives, phishing for your personal information.

The criminals may say your account is on hold because there's trouble with some of your billing information and they want you to click a link.

You could end up compromising your Social Security number, bank account information, username or password. Then the con artists can steal your money.

So how do you know if the email's legitimate?  Watch out for red flags, like bad grammar, spelling mistakes and language we don't usually use -- like "U.S. dollars" instead of just "dollars."

If you think it really is from Netflix, don't click on the link in the email. Go to Netflix's actual websit and follow the billing steps that way.
