Trump tapes: GoFundMe campaign launched to pay legal fees for leaked 'Apprentice' footage

SOMERVILLE, Mass. — After last week's release of video in which presidential candidate Donald Trump made vulgar remarks about women, there are allegations that the type of language he used was common on the set of his reality show “The Apprentice.”

According to The Associated Press, cast and crew members said Trump frequently used lewd and sexist language while shooting episodes of the show.

A Twitter account appearing to belong to “The Apprentice” season 1 and 2 producer Bill Pruitt said the comments that have been released are only the beginning.

A Massachusetts man has started a GoFundMe page with a group called the Sunlight Team to cover the legal fees for anyone who releases unaired footage of the presidential candidate.

"Recent developments have (led) many to believe that video footage of Donald Trump exists which proves that the person we have all come to know over the past year is not the person that he truly is – footage that reinforces what we have all just recently begun to see more clearly," Aaron Holman of Somerville wrote on the GoFundMe page.

Mark Burnett, executive producer of "The Apprentice," told The Associated Press that he doesn't have the right to release unaired footage from the show, but did not respond to requests about specific requirements blocking the release.

According to the GoFundMe page, anyone who releases footage could face legal prosecution and be forced to pay a $5 million "leak fee."

“This campaign hopes to raise the funds to pay those (penalties) and reward the whistleblower responsible with whatever remains to assist them as they move forward in their career,” Holman wrote.
